30 Aug Peace
Recently, I'm finding more and more that I enjoy being in a peaceful state-of-mind. It helps me focus on the important elements of the wedding - my couple, my wedding party and my environment. I'm able to focus on being creative without "thinking" too much about what "needs" to be done. It's a great feeling when I'm in that state-of-mind yet a struggle to maintain throughout the day because weddings are everything but peaceful.
It was great to be able to experience peace without needing to try so hard. When I arrived at Jenn's house that morning, rather than having half a dozen girls running around getting their hair and make-up done, it was a house of four people... well, two to be exact because dad was out getting a car wash and brother was still in bed. Mom and Jenn was getting their hair and make-up done. Jenn answered the door and was like her everyday self. Smiling and confident. I took my time scouting the house and finding possibilities for my gown and shoe shots. It was quiet and wonderful. When it was time to head over to meet Matt and the boys, Jenn slowly started to feel the butterflies. And then the butterflies disappeared shortly after because she saw Matt. The ceremony continued with this aura of peace because it was outdoor, perched on a small hill overlooking the golf course. To have a portrait session in front of a golf course was quite refreshing. Then the reception came along and people were hit with booze and then I had to say goodbye to peace...which was alright because it completed it's duty of feeding my creative.
Thank you to Jenn and Matt for delivering such an unscripted and peaceful wedding day. It was truly refreshing and inspirational. I wish you and your families a wonderful life as one.
